Affiliate boot camp phase 2- Lesson 4

Reviews are going to be an important part of your business and the traffic that you are going to be able to monetize.

Here is why…Author Kyle at wealthy Affiliate

When people are looking for an opportunity to earn money online, they don’t know where to look. Typically a search will start off with something broad in nature (ex. how to make money online) and then as they progress with their research, they are going to gain more product knowledge/awareness.

Say they come across someone recommending “product a”. They may not trust the credibility of that review right away or they may want to research that product in more detail.

What sort of searches do you think they perform within Google?

Here are some of the obvious ones:

-is product_a scam
-is product_a a scam
-does product_a work
-product_a review
-product_a reviews

Here are some less obvious ones:

-product_a training
-how much does product_a cost
-product_a legit
-is product_a worth the money
-is product_a any good
-product_a bonus
-product_a login
-product_a complaints

You would replace “product_a” with name of your product, and you have a bunch of potential product-related keywords that you could utilize for your campaigns….and these are just some of them. And remember, within your actual review, that content will be getting ranked as well. You could have things like “product_a complaints” and “product_a training” as sub categories within your actual reviews.

Google instant it and use the alphabet soup technique (See video here) on the product and you will come up with a lot of ideas so you should consider utilizing that as well when researching your product related keywords.

Task 1: Create a template for your reviews

Your first task today is going to be creating a review template that will be a guideline for all of your reviews going forward. Having a “standardized” review can lead to much more efficiency in the development of your reviews as well as consistency for your visitors which can lead to more conversions.

You need to create a review style template that:

  • Works for the flow your site (scam ranking on my site)
  • Is creative
  • Is a genuine and helpful to the reader
  • Allows someone reading it to feel as though they are making an educated decision
  • Is consistent across the board

So what you are going to be creating is a default template that you will then be able to use and simplify the process of creating all of your product reviews.

Note: Don’t handcuff yourself into keeping exactly to your review. If there is a new topic or category that you want to add to a specific review, remember this is less of a process and more of a “what’s best for my visitors” thing. The more helpful your review is, whether it is postive or negative, they more likely your visitor is to take a specific action.

Here is an example of my template.

Task 2: Create a spreadsheet with all of your reviews, links etc

Your next task is going to be setting up a spreadsheet that you can use to manage your reviews. I recommend doing this within Google Spreadsheets (free and web based), but if you prefer using Microsoft excel or even putting them down on paper, that is fine as well.

A spreadsheet will be critical for organization or your reviews and allow you to get a quick birds eye view of the content that you have created, what products you have ranked where, and you can sort your reviews efficiently if you ever need to. It will also be a place where you can manage all of your affiliate links for the products.

Here are the columns you should have:

Product Name
Owner
Website URL
Cost
Review Page URL
Ranking:
Additional Detail 1
Additiona Detail 2

Affiliate Link
Affiliate Login Username
Affiliate Login Password

etc…

So spend some time and create a spreadsheet for your reviews. Add any existing reviews that you have done to the spreadsheet (you will have a bare minimum of the Wealthy Affiliate one by now).

Task 3: Write a product review

Your last task today is going to be writing an actual review on a product within the industry. Below is a list of products and sources that you can leverage to come up with more products that you can review within the industry.

Remember, be elaborate with your reviews and don’t leave anything on the table. You should be signing out every review with a block of content that points people to your number one ranked product. Remember, your ultimate goal is to funnel people to Wealthy Affiliate, which is your highest ranked product.

Also, take advantage of your affiliate links for every product you review. This will lead to additional revenue and you will be leaving money on the table if you don’t include your affiliate links within your review.

Here is an initial list of products that you could review (there are 1,000’s more):
